The definition of the first impression is explained as well as its importance. Visual design plays an important role whether website creates good or bad first impression. Gestalt principles of visual design are presented with given website examples. To confirm connection between the first impression and gestalt principles of design, eye-tracking study was performed. Successfully completed analysis was completed with 15 participants. Visual appearance plays an important role in evaluation but it is not the only factor. It is confirmed that out of four websites, the one using the more gestalt principles was at the final individual evaluation assessed the best.  It is proven that also the manner of the information provided plays a significant role.</dc:description><dc:publisher>A.
