Drawing upon academic literature and semi-structured interviews with local stakeholders, the study identifies key drivers, barriers, and risks associated with extreme tourism in Kamchatka. The research reveals that despite Kamchatka’s unique natural resources—active volcanoes, geysers, wildlife, and cultural heritage—the region faces major challenges including poor infrastructure, limited accessibility, inadequate safety systems, and weak marketing. Thematic analysis of interviews highlights the importance of environmental sustainability, local community involvement, and strategic planning. The findings are compared with existing academic literature, showing a high degree of alignment and adding local insights into the practical realities of tourism development. The study concludes that Kamchatka holds substantial potential for extreme tourism, provided that investments are made in infrastructure, safety standards, and inclusive development models. Recommendations are made for policymakers, tourism agencies, and local stakeholders to promote sustainable and responsible growth of the sector.[Y.
