It aims to identify an underlying connection between the protagonist's use of sensory perception and her expression of constrained freedom. Adopting a comparative stylistic and close-reading approach, the study analyses how the five senses (e.g., olfactory, gustatory, visual, auditory, and tactile) function within the narrative structure and how they are reinterpreted in the graphic medium. The analysis demonstrates that each sensory mode exhibits distinct characteristics and engages differently with themes of restriction and resistance. Olfactory and tactile elements are closely associated with control and limitation, whereas visual and auditory modes more frequently facilitate subtle acts of defiance. Although such elements occur more frequently in the original novel, they remain central to the adaptation, where they are conveyed through a range of textual and visual strategies, including graphological variation and visual amplification. The thesis ultimately argues that sensory representation operates as a key narrative mechanism through which perception, control, and autonomy are negotiated across both works.</dc:description><dc:publisher>N.
