Focusing on the Camino de Santiago, this article treats pilgrimage not as a given practice but as a tourism knowledge object and analyzes 597 Scopus-indexed publications using dictionary-based content analysis and bibliometrics. The analysis identifies a stratified configuration in which experiential-existential and cultural-heritage framings dominate both visibility and epistemic centrality, reinforced by reflexive-interpretive legitimation, while governance, regulation, and sustainability remain weakly articulated. This produces an epistemically elastic yet depoliticized object that sustains diverse interpretations but limits sustained engagement with institutional dimensions. By linking patterns of scholarly framing within this corpus to what can be problematized, the article shows how internationally visible tourism research contributes to the spatial ordering and governability of destinations.</dc:description><dc:publisher>Taylor and Francis</dc:publisher><dc:date>2026</dc:date><dc:date>2026-09-18 09:36:38</dc:date><dc:type>Znanstveno delo</dc:type><dc:identifier>100455</dc:identifier><dc:identifier>UDK: 316.74:2</dc:identifier><dc:identifier>COBISS_ID: 291556611</dc:identifier><dc:identifier>DOI: 10.1080/14616688.2026.2725117</dc:identifier><dc:identifier>ISSN pri članku: 1470-1340</dc:identifier><dc:language>sl</dc:language><dc:coverage>Španija; </dc:coverage></metadata>
