We use them to keep in touch with friends, family and business partners and also for our self-promotion or promotion of our products. Openness and unlimited extent make social networks interesting not only to their users, but also to cyber criminals. The latter exploit lack of knowledge, recklessness and gullibility of the social networks users who are very likely to become their victims. Warning of the dangers and education about protection in social networks are therefore of great importance. The way and extent of our protection depend mostly on ourselves. The market offers a lot of applications for protection against such dangers. Social networks also present general requirements and instructions which lead us to their safe usega. Legal acts deal with our protectio in certain cases. The dangers that lie in wait for the users of socia networks may be viruses, breaking into our computers and stealing our identity, »phishing« or »pharming«. Usege of social networks often turns into addiction. One of the most popular social networks is Facebook. It has been on the market since 2004, but its popularity and the number of users increase every day. Numerous attacks on Facebook have been witnessed since its establishment, therefore I advise its users to be mistrustful when using it despite its popularity and usefulness.
