Using a simple mesoscopic Landau-de Gennes-type model in terms of a tensor nematic order parameter, we demonstrate a general mechanism which could be exploited for controlled targeting of NPs within a spatially nonhomogeneous nematic texture. Furthermore, we experimentally demonstrate using polarising microscopy that even a relatively low concentration of localised appropriate NPs could trigger a nematic structural transition. A simple estimate is derived to account for the observed transition.</dc:description><dc:date>2015</dc:date><dc:date>2016-06-09 03:16:09</dc:date><dc:type>Članek v reviji</dc:type><dc:identifier>60191</dc:identifier><dc:identifier>ISSN: 1687-8108</dc:identifier><dc:identifier>UDK: 532.783</dc:identifier><dc:identifier>OceCobissID: 23812647</dc:identifier><dc:identifier>COBISS_ID: 21848584</dc:identifier><dc:identifier>DOI: 10.1155/2015/803480</dc:identifier><dc:identifier>ISSN pri članku: 1687-8108</dc:identifier><dc:identifier>NUK URN: URN:SI:UM:DK:3XGCF3SE</dc:identifier><dc:language>sl</dc:language></metadata>
