This equation is defined as the equivalent stress, and is an extension of Murray’s equation. This approach applies to the general case of bi-modal structured soils showing a macrostructure and microstructure. The theoretical development considers the existence of a dry fraction in addition to the saturated and unsaturated fractions of the soil. These different fractions are included in a porous model, which allows an evaluation of the parameters of the equivalent stress equation. Finally, the paper includes a comparison between theoretical and experimental results. The comparison shows that the proposed equation can be used to estimate the shear strength of unsaturated soils.</dc:description><dc:date>2015</dc:date><dc:date>2018-06-15 14:10:37</dc:date><dc:type>Znanstveno delo</dc:type><dc:identifier>70854</dc:identifier><dc:identifier>ISSN: 1854-0171</dc:identifier><dc:identifier>UDK: 624.13</dc:identifier><dc:identifier>OceCobissID: 215987712</dc:identifier><dc:identifier>COBISS_ID: 284310784</dc:identifier><dc:identifier>ISSN pri članku: 1854-0171</dc:identifier><dc:identifier>NUK URN: URN:SI:UM:DK:EPQI7VT9</dc:identifier><dc:language>sl</dc:language><dc:rights>Fakulteta za gradbeništvo, prometno inženirstvo in arhitekturo Univerze v Mariboru</dc:rights></metadata>
