To accurately evaluate this capacity, a nonlinear buckling analysis model subjected to combined internal pressure and bending loads is established. The critical compressive strain is defined as the average strain over a gauge length of 1.0D at the onset of buckling. Numerical results indicate that the critical compressive strain decreases as misalignment amplitude increases, while the effect of misalignment angle shows an opposite trend. The buckling results obtained from numerical simulations are compared with four models introduced in engineering standards/codes, and a good agreement with the CRES prediction model is observed. Building on this basis, the FGI term in the CRES model is modified to account for girth-welded pipelines with different misalignment types, amplitudes and angles. Consequently, a modified predictive model is proposed. It is demonstrated that, within the numerical database considered in this study, the modified model achieves a fitting accuracy exceeding 97%. Finally, independent finite element simulations considering different D/t ratios, internal pressures, and material hardening characteristics are conducted to further validate the applicability of the FDP and FYT terms.</dc:description><dc:publisher>Elsevier Ltd.</dc:publisher><dc:date>2026</dc:date><dc:date>2026-06-11 15:25:15</dc:date><dc:type>Članek v reviji</dc:type><dc:identifier>98426</dc:identifier><dc:identifier>UDK: 621.791:539.3</dc:identifier><dc:identifier>COBISS_ID: 281344259</dc:identifier><dc:identifier>DOI: 10.1016/j.tws.2026.115231</dc:identifier><dc:identifier>ISSN pri članku: 0263-8231</dc:identifier><dc:language>sl</dc:language></metadata>
