20.500.12556/DKUM-11075 UPORABA ALTERNATIVNIH REŠITEV V SISTEMIH RAČUNALNIŠKIH STREŽNIKOV USE OF ALTERNATIVE SOLUTIONS IN COMPUTER SERVER SYSTEMS Diplomska naloga prikazuje uporabo alternativnih rešitev v sistemih računalniških strežnikov s poudarkom na odprti kodi. Izbrano alternativno rešitev predstavlja projekt postavitve računalniškega strežnika v Linux okolju z določeno primarno funkcijo delovanja strežnika elektronske pošte. Diplomsko delo opisuje delovanje sistema elektronske pošte, namestitev programov in konfiguracijo sistemskih datotek. Prikazane so možnosti nadzora in upravljanja sistema. Opisane so izvedene rešitve za doseganje varnosti v sistemu strežnika. Pomembno težo imajo sistemski izpisi, ki nam prikazujejo trenutno delovanje in nas hkrati opozarjajo na morebitne napake. Prikazal sem primerjavo med prosto dostopnim odprto kodnim poštnim strežnikom Postfix in plačljivim strežnikom Microsoft Exchange 2007. Računalniški strežnik se je izkazal za stabilnega in varnega, kar smo dosegli izključno z uporabljeno prosto dostopno odprto kodno programsko opremo. V zaključku so opisane dobre in slabe lastnosti uporabe odprte kode s pomočjo primerjave celotnega projekta z enakovrednimi plačljivimi programi. The thesis at hand shows the use of alternative solutions in the computer server systems with emphasis on the open source. The selected alternative solution represents the project of setting-up a Linux server in the environment with a certain primary function of e-mail server operation. The thesis describes the e-mail system operation, programme setup and configuration of system files. It shows the possibilities of system control and management. Furthermore it describes the performed solutions for reaching security in the server system. An important role is played by server logs which show the present operation and warn of possible errors. The thesis also shows a comparison between the free accessible open source e-mail server Postfix and the server Microsoft Exchange 2007 which is not free of charge. The computer server proved stable and secure which was achieved only by use of free accessible open source software. The conclusion contains positive and negative characteristics of open source use which are based on a comparison of the whole project with equal payable programs. operacijski sistemi odprta koda računalniški strežniki elektronska pošta omrežni protokoli varovanje računalniških sistemov operating systems open source computer servers electronic mail network protocols network security true true false [D.
