20.500.12556/DKUM-66790 Toward the discovery of citation cartels in citation networks In this perspective, our goal is to present and elucidate a thus far largely overlooked problem that is arising in scientific publishing, namely the identification and discovery of citation cartels in citation networks. Taking from the well-known definition of a community in the realm of network science, namely that people within a community share significantly more links with each other as they do outside of this community, we propose that citation cartels are defined as groups of authors that cite each other disproportionately more than they do other groups of authors that work on the same subject. Evidently, the identification of citation cartels is somewhat different, although similar to the identification of communities in networks. We systematically expose the problem, provide theoretical examples, and outline an algorithmic guide on how to approach the subject. citation network citation cartel network science community detection cooperation omrežja citatov citatni karteli omrežna znanost skupnosti sodelovanje true true true Angleški jezik Slovenski jezik Znanstveno delo 2017-07-10 12:56:42 2017-07-10 12:57:29 2022-08-01 13:10:26 2019-07-11 15:59:00 2016 0 0 str. 1-5 Letn. 4 2016 0000-00-00 Zaloznikova Objavljeno NiDoloceno 0000-00-00 0000-00-00 0000-00-00 2296-424X 001.891 20267016 22865928 10.3389/fphy.2016.00049 2296-424X URN:SI:UM:DK:KQ1UVDQP Frontiers_in_Physics_2016_Fister,_Fister,_Perc_Toward_the_Discovery_of_Citation_Cartels_in_Citation_Networks.pdf Frontiers_in_Physics_2016_Fister,_Fister,_Perc_Toward_the_Discovery_of_Citation_Cartels_in_Citation_Networks.pdf 1 05B5B1BA8E128BCC82AB033D6B527972 1297fad7556d50a406a457e070e302143a1f9318375ed10576ac00bcf2c50b13 63f25262-7c0e-11eb-bb7a-00155d0001ca 20.500.12556/dkum/0bfbd337-9f6d-490b-94a2-0818709ddf71 https://dk.um.si/Dokument.php?lang=slv&id=113966 http://journal.frontiersin.org/article/10.3389/fphy.2016.00049/full 1 https://dk.um.si/Dokument.php?lang=slv&id=113965 Fakulteta za elektrotehniko, računalništvo in informatiko 0 0 0
