20.500.12556/DKUM-95479 Josip Hutter in razvoj Maribora: Gospodarski, družbeni in kulturni vidiki Josip Hutter and the development of Maribor: Economic, social and cultural aspects Maribor je eno ključnih slovenskih industrijskih središč, ki ga je v 20. stoletju močno zaznamoval razvoj tekstilne industrije, ki je tvoril hrbtenico lokalnega gospodarstva, vplival na zaposlovanje in oblikoval urbani razvoj. Pomemben delež k temu je prispeval tekstilni industrialec in filantrop Josip Hutter, ustanovitelj in večinski lastnik tovarne J. Hutter in drug, ki je s svojo podjetniško vizijo ter družbeno angažiranostjo vplival na gospodarski, družbeni in kulturni razvoj mesta. V teoretičnem delu se naloga dotakne podjetništva, tekstilne industrije ter industrijske zgodovine Maribora, katero tudi primerja z drugimi industrijskimi mesti v Sloveniji (Kranj, Velenje, Trbovlje) in Evrope (Manchester, Liberec). Posebno pozornost smo v nalogi namenili trem ključnim vplivom, in sicer gospodarskemu, kjer govorimo o Hutterjevi tekstilni tovarni, njegovih zaposlenih in vplivu tovarne na lokalno ekonomijo in infrastrukturo; družbenemu, ki zajema spremembe v socialni strukturi prebivalstva, vpliv na delavske razrede, migracijske tokove ter pomen Hutterjeve kolonije na Pobrežju; ter kulturnemu, ki prikaže oblikovanje identitete mesta, pomen Hutter bloka in vpliv na mariborsko kulturo, umetnost ter prizadevanje za ohranjanje industrijske dediščine. Osredotočili smo se tudi na filantropske dejavnosti Josipa Hutterja in njegove inovativne rešitve, ki jih je prakticiral tako doma, v domovih za svoje delavce, kot tudi v svoji tovarni. Empirični del temelji na intervjujih in njihovi analizi, ki osvetljuje Hutterjevo osebnost, vrednote, odnos do delavcev in vpliv, ki ga je s svojimi dejanji imel oziroma pustil na mariborski kulturi. Josip Hutter in razcvet tekstilne industrije je bistveno prispeval k razvoju Maribora in njegovi preobrazbi v pomembno gospodarsko in kulturno središče. Preplet podjetništva, družbene odgovornosti in kulture so oblikovali trajno dediščino, ki je še danes prisotna v identiteti mesta. Maribor is one of Slovenia's key industrial centers, profoundly shaped in the 20th century by the development of the textile industry, which formed the backbone of the local economy, influenced employment, and determined the city’s urban development. A significant contribution to this process was made by the textile industrialist and philanthropist Josip Hutter, founder and majority owner of the factory J. Hutter & Co., whose entrepreneurial vision and social engagement had a lasting impact on the city's economic, social, and cultural development. The theoretical part of the thesis addresses entrepreneurship, the textile industry, and the industrial history of Maribor, which is also compared with other industrial cities in Slovenia (Kranj, Velenje, Trbovlje) and in Europe (Manchester, Liberec). Special attention is devoted to three key areas of influence: the economic dimension, which examines Hutter's textile factory, its employees, and the factory's impact on the local economy and infrastructure; the social dimension, which explores changes in the social structure, the impact on the working classes, migration flows, and the importance of Hutter's workers' colony in Pobrežje; and the cultural dimension, which highlights the shaping of the city's identity, the significance of the Hutter block, the influence on Maribor's culture and arts, and efforts to preserve its industrial heritage. The thesis also focuses on Hutter's philanthropic activities and innovative solutions, practiced both in workers' housing and within his factory. The empirical part is based on interviews and their analysis, which shed light on Hutter's personality, values, attitude toward workers, and the influence he exerted on Maribor's culture. Josip Hutter and the flourishing textile industry significantly contributed to the city's development and its transformation into an important economic and cultural center. The interweaving of entrepreneurship, social responsibility, and culture created a lasting legacy that remains embedded in the identity of Maribor to this day.
