Abstract:
Naloga obravnava projekt nadgradnje baze podatkov Oracle verzije 7 v verzijo 8i.

Title:
ORACLE DATABASE UPGRADE PROJECT
Abstract:
This diploma thesis describes the development project in which Oracle database version 7 is upgraded to version 8i. These two versions are compared according to major functions. The company SPL d.d., in which the project took place is briefly described as well as the system administrator's and database administrator's tasks. The upgrade project was complex due to lost data in corrupted blocks – the consequence was incomplete export of database. After import of valid data in Oracle 8i the missing one were restored through programming procedures. Critical patches were installed on server and client sides. The upgrade project enabled the compatibility with up-to-date database tools, the usage of graphical user interface and assured better security of business data.
