Title:Patient with alcoholic liver cirrhosis
Abstract:The central theme with which we were engaged in the diploma work, was the alcoholic liver cirrhosis and a number of complications, which this disease brings. In the first part of graduate work, which is theoretical, we examined the causes and risk factors for the development of liver cirrhosis, its prevalence in Slovenia, the clinical picture, diagnosis and treatment, and many of the complications which this disease causes. We also described the care of a patient with liver cirrhosis and health education of an alcoholic. In the context of life activity, we highlighted the most common problems at which nurse must be observant and made a plan of nursing care. The survey was conducted in the Department of digestive diseases General Hospital Celje with the help of the anonymous survey questionnaire, which contained 19 questions. We investigated 35 patients with alcoholic liver cirrhosis, who were hospitalized in this department from April to October 2008. All the respondent had the option of refusing participation in the study. The results we got from the survey show, that the first signs of liver cirrhosis in more than half of patients surveyed appeared after 16 years of regular drinking of alcoholic beverages. Two-thirds of the respondents indicated the impact of the company as the major cause for the start of excessive drinking of alcoholic beverages The most consumed beverage was wine (45.71%). The study showed that patients with alcoholic liver cirrhosis have, beside other chronic non-contagious diseases such as high blood pressure, high cholesterol and triglycerides, poor eating habits and negative attitude towards recreation activities.
