Abstract:

Title:
"Trainspotting" Irvine-a Welsh-a: socialni prikaz deprivilegiranega sloja v Edinburghu v osemdesetih
Abstract:
The thesis is an attempt to explore the way Irvine Welsh presents the realities of contemporary Scotland in Trainspotting. The novel's greatest value lies in its ability to portray its marginalized characters as textbook examples of deviance. By focusing on the subculture, however, it also manages to critically depict the mainstream against which deviance is defined.
