Abstract:V prvem poglavju smo opredelili problem, izpostavili namen diplomske naloge ter navedli cilje in osnovne trditve, ki smo jih skušali doseči in dokazati v sledečih poglavjih.

Title:DEVELOPMENT OF A CONCEPT FOR A SAMPLE ECOHOTEL IN SLOVENIA
Abstract:In the first chapter we have defined the problem, exposed the purpose of the research and indicated the aims and basic statements that we attempted to achieve in following chapters. We affirmed that Slovene tourism companies refuse to implement ecological management because they don't perceive the market gap in this sphere of activity. We have also presented presumptions and limitations of the research and alleged the methods of the research work. In the second chapter we represented the environmental problems related to tourism. We indicated some basic definitions of tourism, alleged current information about the extension of tourism. Furthermore we indicated some basic positive and negative consequences of tourism activity on the environment and represented characteristics of sustainable development of tourism and ecotourism. We executed the relation between ecologic and economic interests and ascertained these two things are not necessary alternatives and can even complement them selves. Following the results of researches performed abroad we concluded that tourists are more and more inclined to ecologically adjusted tourism although Slovenian suppliers do not follow this trend, which is the confirmation of the hypothesis from the first chapter. In the third chapter we defined the options for sustainable development of tourism in Slovenia and ascertained that our country has a great potential to initiate ecohotels but in spite of that investors and suppliers rather insist at common unspecialized offer because they still believe that the implementation of ecological management causes high investment costs and lower profit. The reasons for that situation are mostly in inactivity of performers and state, lack of innovation and lack of ecological awareness. Furthermore we indicated some Slovenian suppliers of tourist services which decided for ecologic manner of operation. We defined their concrete arrangements for protection of the environment. In the fourth chapter we defined an example of ecohotel abroad, Bio Seehotel Zeulenroda in Germany, which is the first eco congress hotel in Europe. Its vision is to become one of the leading congress hotels in Europe that manages to achieve the aims in environment-friendly way. In the fifth chapter we described the sample ecohotel which might be build some day in Slovenia. We declared some provisions for reduction of water and energy consumption, for systematic use of resources, for reduction of waste output, to support development of ecologic agriculture. At the same time it should ensure the optimum well-being of their guests in order to stimulate them to initiate their own steps to protect the environment. By that we achieved the essential aim of the research. In conclusion we defined sustainable tourism as tourism of future that is able to exclude the tourism sector from the circle of the biggest pollutants and include it among essential protectors of the environment that maintain the quality of surroundings. This is the only way for Slovenia to keep its designation of »green« destination.
