Abstract:V diplomski nalogi smo predstavili primerjavo uporabe cestnega transporta z železniškim, kar smo podkrepili s praktičnim primerom pretovora blaga v paletah, v podjetju Intereuropa d.d. Pomen transporta in transportnih storitev vsakodnevno nenehno narašča. Združuje transportno infrastrukturo, suprastrukturo, intelektualni kapital in ostale podsisteme.

Title:Comparison of the use of road and railway transport in Intereuropa d.d.
Abstract:In this diploma work we presented the comparison between the road transport and the rail transport, we substantiated this with practical examples in which goods were transported on pallets by the Intereuropa d.d. company. Road transport, before the introduction of the rail road, was the only way to transport goods by land. It is based on artificially built paths and it offers fast and safe transport of goods from one place to the other. Rail transport is similar, it is based on artificially built railway networks and because of its capacity it offers the best way to transport mass cargo. In the first part, the characteristics of the transport system are described, the system that makes transport possible i.d. transfer of the transporting object. It combines transport infrastructure, supra-structure, knowledge capital and other subsystems. Within the transport system, which is divided into land, air and water, we focused mainly on land transport (road and rail transport) and on its advantages and disadvantages. After that follows the introduction of the company Intereuropa d.d. on the basis of which we prepared the analysis of land transport. Intereuropa d.d. is one of the leading suppliers of comprehensive logistic services. It satisfies its customers with reliability, speed, safety and competitive prices. Advantages of any company are lower costs of transport due to the optimization of transit, speed, safety, low-cost delivery to final recipient and additional services. In the last part of the diploma work, there is an example of cargo transport from Maribor to Amsterdam by road and railway. Within the road system we chose the following transport vehicles: a trailer, a semi-trailer, solo-car and a 3,5 tone vehicle. For each transport vehicle we created an image of expenses and time. The same was done for the rail transport, where for the means of transport we took a train with twelve 53-54 ton carriages. In the conclusion we also started the findings, witch show that in our present case the more rational choice would be to pick rail transport.
