Abstract:V diplomski nalogi je predstavljen proces poslovanja s paketnimi pošiljkami v organizaciji Pošta Slovenije.

Title:POSSIBILITIES OF PACKAGE TRACKING IN POŠTA SLOVENIJE
Abstract:The thesis presents the process of parcel handling in Pošta Slovenije organisation. We proposed a solution to the problem that occurs in the process of parcel handling. The core problem is: lack of precise information regarding location and contents of parcels. The solution includes a tracking system with combination of two methods for acquiring information: barcode and RFID label. The solution considers the standards and recommendations of Universal Postal Union and GS1 organisation, which offers global tracking solutions that are also approved by Universal Postal Union. Some of the possible tracking solutions, which are used by foreign postal operators and logistic solution providers, like RFID technology, are presented in the thesis. The thesis provides a prototype solution with a proposal for renovation of identificators and information system. We present the test of RFID technology labelling the parcels that are used by Pošta Slovenije. The results show the adequacy of using RFID technology in the environment where metal is also present. The advantages of this kind of tracking are better availability of information regarding tracked objects and more efficient use of the parcels. As the result we expect lower handling costs and higher satisfaction of clients.
