Abstract:
V diplomski nalogi smo preskusili tehnologijo VMware za potrebe virtualizacije računalniške infrastrukture razvojnega oddelka v podjetju Hermes SoftLab d.o.o. Podane so teoretične osnove virtualizacije. Preskus je obsegal vzpostavitev strojne in mrežne opreme ter namestitev celotne infrastrukture VMware. Prikazani so ključni koraki pri namestitvi posameznih rešitev, potrebne nastavitve za vzpostavitev povezav v virtualni infrastrukturi in definiranje osnovnih procesov uporabe. Predstavljene so glavne funkcionalnosti VMware VirtualCenter in Lab Manager ter potencialne koristi uporabe le-teh v konkretnem podjetju.

EVLUATION OF VMWARE TECHNOLOGIES IN SOFTWARE DEVELOPMENT
Abstract:
This research is focused on testing of VMware virtualization products. The task has been perfomed for software development team in Hermes SoftLab Ltd. Theoretical basis of computer virtualization is briefly described. Appropriate testing configuration of VMware virtual infrastructure was prepared including network, hardware and software components. Apart from basic process usage definition, necessary deployment steps and settings required to connect all entities into a stable virtual development environment are described as well. In addition, all main features of VMware VirtualCenter and Lab Manager have been presented and possible benefits of usage in software development team were highlighted.
