Abstract:	Diplomska seminarska naloga z naslovom Šolska, kulturna in družbena zgodovina Polzele v 19. in v 1. polovici 20. stoletja obravnava moj domači kraj. Naloga temelji na dogajanju na Polzeli in v njeni bližnji okolici v letih od 1826 do 1941. Mejni letnici predstavljata razvoj kraja od začetka delovanja redne osnovne šole do prihoda okupatorjev. Nalogo sem začela s krajšim opisom kraja in z gibanjem prebivalstva v omenjenem času. Ker so raziskovani samo posamezni drobci polzelske zgodovine, sem v uvodnem poglavju zaradi boljše preglednosti umestila zgodovino kraja v razvoj celotne Spodnje Savinjske doline. Sledita najpomembnejši poglavji o zgodovini polzelske osnovne šole, od ustanovitve do aprila 1941 in začetki kulturnega življenja s pregledom vseh najpomembnejših društev v obravnavanem času. Germanizacija ni prizanesla niti Polzeli, zato sem to problematiko opisala v posebnem poglavju. Nalogo sem zaključila s kratkim pregledom razvoja gospodarstva, po katerem je Polzela poznana še danes.

Title:	EDUCATION CULTURAL AND SOCIAL HISTORY OF POLZELA IN THE 19TH CENTURY AND THE 1ST HALF OF THE 20TH CENTURY
Abstract:	The diploma thesis titled “Educational, cultural and social history of Polzela in the 19th century and in the first half of the 20th century” deals with my home town. It is based on the events and daily life in Polzela and its surroundings between 1826 and 1941. The limiting years represent the development of the town from the establishment of a regular elementary school until the arrival of the occupying enemy. The thesis begins with a short description of the town and the population movement during the aforementioned time period. As only specific fragments of the history of Polzela were researched, the town’s history, for reasons of clarity, is described in the introductory chapter within the development of the entire Lower Savinja Valley. This is followed by the two most important chapters, on the history of the Polzela Elementary School from its establishment until April 1941, and on the beginnings of cultural life with a review of all significant associations during the discussed time period. Like elsewhere, Germanization affected Polzela as well; therefore, this issue is described in a separate chapter. The diploma thesis concludes with a brief overview of the development of the economy, for which Polzela is still known today.
