Abstract:V diplomski nalogi smo želeli ugotoviti, ali se starši zavedajo pomembnosti gibalnih/športnih dejavnosti svojih otrok, kakšen pomen jim pripisujejo v svojem in otrokovem življenju in kakšna je vloga staršev pri gibalni športni aktivnosti otrok.

Title:THE PARENTS' ROLE IN MOVEMENT SKILL DEVELOPMENT OF THE CHILDREN IN THE KIDRIČEVO KINDERGARTEN
Abstract:SUMMARY In the diploma work we wanted to find out if the parents are aware of the importance of their children’s movement/sport activities, what sort of significance do they ascribe to them in their and in children’s life, and what is the parents’ role in children’s movement/sport activities. The theoretical part describes the children’s motoric development, motoric abilities, morphologic characteristics, the significance of movement/sport activities for the holistic child development, the significance of global movement/sport activities for the holistic child development, the significance of the family environment in the motoric and morphologic child development and the possibilities for movement/sport activities in the commune of Kidričevo. In the empiric part, in the sample of 117 parents, we are establishing that parents together with their children take part in movement/sport activities; most frequently they choose activities with a ball. They mainly do open-air activities. Some children are included in organized activities; the main reasons are the child’s wish to take part in those activities and the improvement of children’s movement abilities. According to the data about the weight and height of the children whose parents were included in this research, we can state that those children, being active in sports together with their parents several times a week or only at the weekends, have a got their body mass index within the limits of normality. The parents’ most frequent reason for not being active in sports is the lack of free time.
