Title:RETURNING OF MONETARY ASSETS IN TO COMMERCIAL BANKS IN THE FRAME OF FINANCIAL CRISIS IN SLOVENIA (THE CASE OF ABANKA VIPA D.D.)
Abstract:The global financial crisis began in the USA in the year 2007 with the bang of the mortgage balloon, as a result of massive bank trading with executed financial instruments of the sub-prime mortgage lending (securitization). The Slovenian banks haven’t traded with these ruined financial instruments or have traded with them very little, due to their conservative investment policy. Despite their healthy assets have Slovenian banks been affected by significantly more expensive international funding sources. Population’s reaction to the financial crisis, which caused a drastic decline in the value of securities, was in the sell of these securities and money transfers into commercial banks. Banks, including the bank Abanka Vipa d.d., are in these times of crisis a safe refuge from the stock exchange fluctuations. The savings range of the commercial banks has increased simultaneously with the beginning of the crisis. While writing this work the first signs of crisis ending can be seen in the growth of the index SBI 20 and the reduction of household deposits. The bank Abanka Vipa d.d. has, as other Slovenian banks, increased the number of deposits. Abanka Vipa d.d. has also in these crucial times advertised the variegated offer of its savings, which are suitable for all population structures.
