Title:ENTERING THE KINDERGARTEN IS NEVER EASY
Abstract:Many things change for a child and his/her parents when he/she enters a kindergarten for the first time. Children’s reactions vary, some children cry, some hang on to their parents, and the parents are afraid to leave. Some children are attracted by new environment. They observe and explore it with interest. Parents are in distress, too. They do not have any experiences with life in the kindergarten, they are suspicious, many questions and fears arise. Will their child get enough attention? Will he/she be loved? Will he/she get accustomed to the kindergarten? In the diploma work Entering the kindergarten is never easy the importance of an introductory period for children who enter the kindergarten the first time is presented. It was of our interest to know whether the parents understand that progressive introduction of a child supports his/her easier inclusion in a kindergarten. The diploma work consists of two parts. In the theoretical part we introduce the concepts of a family, socialization, education, attachment, cooperation and the process of a child’s introduction into a kindergarten. In the empirical part the questionnaires are analysed. The questionnaires were filled in by parents whose children go to Tončke Čečeve kindergarten in Celje. We found out that the parents think of an introductory period for children who enter the kindergarten the first time as a very important one. They believe the introductory period supports easier inclusion of their children in the kindergarten.
Keywords:a child, a family, education, socialization, attachment, a kindergarten, an introductory period.
