Abstract:	Demenca je pogosta bolezen v starosti, saj se z njo povečuje tveganje za njen nastanek. Tako kot demenca prizadene samega starostnika, tako je prizadeta tudi njegova bližnja okolica in njegovi svojci. Zaradi psihofizičnih obremenitev svojcev, ki ga povzročajo negovanje in skrb za obolelega z demenco, le-te največkrat namestijo v domove za starejše. Diplomsko delo je zgrajeno iz teoretičnega in empiričnega dela. V teoretičnem delu sta predstavljeni demenca in pomen domskega varstva starejših. V empiričnem delu so predstavljeni rezultati raziskave, ki so pokazali, da so svojci močno zaskrbljeni glede bolezni obolelega z demenco in da ob tem čutijo nemoč in nervozo ter telesno utrujenost. Psihofizične obremenitve so se pri večini svojcev obolelega z demenco zmanjšale po namestitvi svojca v dom. Svojci, ki so pred namestitvijo v dom za starejše, sami skrbeli za pacienta z demenco, so bili psihofizično obremenjeni, predvsem zaradi nerazumevanja pacienta z demenco in nepoznavanja same bolezni. Rezultat raziskave nam pokaže, da si kar 2/3 anketiranih svojcev ne želi dodatnega izobraževanja s področja demence, kljub temu, da njihovo poznavanje demence ni najboljše. Izobraževanje svojcev pacienta z demenco o značilnostih in poteku demence je pomembno že pred namestitvijo v dom za starejše. Kasneje je koristno čim pogostejše vključevanje svojcev v načrtovanje in izvajanje zdravstvene nege, saj bi se s tem zmanjšal občutek krivde, ki ga svojci pogosto razvijejo po namestitvi svojega starostnika v dom. .

Title:	The psyschophysical burdens of relatives of patients with a dementia
Abstract:	Dementia is one of the most common diseases of the old age which yet encourages the risk to getting sick with it. With the same measure one is affected by dementia also his closest surrounding and especially relatives get stricken very much. Due to psycho-physical burdening caused by taking care for dementia sickened person, relatives most often decide to send him/her to old people’s home. This university graduation thesis is set up from a theoretical and empirical part, of which the first is introducing dementia and the importance of old people’s homes treatment of the elder people. The second part, however, is presenting the results of the survey, which have proved a high level of relatives’ concern for the dementia affected patient as well as their powerlessness and fidget and physical exhaustion. Psycho-physical burdening proved to get reduced in most cases after the dementia affected relative had been put into old peoples’ home. Relatives who used to take care for their dementia affected relative by themselves were psycho-physically burdened especially for misunderstanding the dementia affected person and because of their weak knowledge of this illness. The results have also proved 2/3 of questioned relatives not having any particular interest in gaining additional knowledge from the field of dementia, in spite of their poor general knowledge about the illness. Relatives should get taught about dementia, about its characteristics and course of development even before having their own relative sent to old peoples’ home. Their involvement into later planning and carrying out the medical care, since this could be a good way to lessen their feeling of guiltiness which so often appears after their relative had been sent to old peoples’ home.
