Title:SAVING - BANK VS. MUTUAL FUND
Abstract:Saving money is key, experts warn on a daily basis. The fact that pension values are decreasing, inflation rising day by day and that pay rises are set at below-inflation levels are occurences reported by television and print media almost every day. An equal number of reports are based on how and where to save money. As the definition states, saving is the act of giving up consumption in a given moment. According to banks however, saving is the postponement of consumption until a later period. Which definition is applied is decided upon by the individual on the basis of their current social position and future plans. When it comes to saving, discipline and determination are vital. Saving can come in many different forms. New variants are constanly appearing on the market. Each form has its strengths and weaknesses and each must be analysed in order to determine the correct fit of the savings plan for the individual in question. The ideal savings plan for each individual is based on individual wishes, income, age and expenses. Savings plans at banks are safe investments, if not very lucrative. Savings plans in the form of mutual funds are characterised by long-term profitability and as investments have a relative degree of safety and liquidity. The risk of losing one's savings with this kind of plan is however larger. It is key that we begin saving as soon as possible, as time is an important factor for the profitability of an investment.
