Abstract:	Motnje v duševnem razvoju, ki so nastale pred 18. letom starosti odražajo resnejše omejitve v delovanju posameznika. Označuje jo pomembno znižanje intelektualnega delovanja in resnejše omejitve na dveh ali več prilagoditvenih sposobnostih: komunikaciji, skrbi za samega sebe, bivanju, socialnih spretnostih, vključevanju v širše okolje, samostojnosti, branju, pisanju in računanju, izkoriščanju prostega časa in delu. Raziskava je bila omejena na zaposlene v Varstveno delovnem centru Tončke Hočevar, ne glede na organizacijsko enoto, kjer so zaposleni. Raziskava je temeljila na kvantitativni metodologiji z uporabo delno strukturiranega vprašalnika in je potekala v Varstveno delovnem centru Tončke Hočevar v mesecu novembru 2009. Diplomsko delo obravnava ustreznost teorije D. E. Orem pri zmerno duševno manj razviti osebi in njeno uporabo v Varstveno delovnem centru Tončke Hočevar. Namen aplikacije teorije Oremove je zagotoviti kakovostno zdravstveno nego uporabnikov v varstveno delovnih centrih, vključenih v institucionalno varstvo. Cilji, ki smo si jih zastavili, so: predstaviti teorijo D. E. Orem v povezavi z zdravstveno nego duševno manj razvite osebe in potrebe po zdravstveni negi zmerno duševno manj razvite osebe ter ugotoviti, ali je teorijo D. E. Orem mogoče uporabiti pri obravnavi zmerno duševno manj razvite osebe. Predstavili smo duševno manj razvito osebo, ki je vključena v institucionalno varstvo v varstveno delovnem centru in teorijo D. E. Orem. Na podlagi rezultatov ankete, izvedene v Varstveno delovnem centru Tončke Hočevar, smo ugotovili, da bi zaposleni spremembo obravnave v zdravstveni negi sprejeli, vendar za to potrebujejo ustrezno predhodno izobraževanje.

Title:	Use of theory D. E. Orem´s at moderatelly mentally less developed person
Abstract:	A mental disability reflects serious limitations of individuals' activities that began before the age of 18. It is indicated by an important decrease of intellectual activity and more serious limitations of two or more abilities: communication, self-care, residing, social skills, inclusion into the broader environment, independence, reading, writing and calculating, making good use of free time and work. The research was limited to the employees of the Occupational activity centre Tončka Hočevar (Varstveno delovni center Tončke Hočevar), regardless of their organisational unit. It was based on a quantitative methodology with use of partially structured questionnaire and was conducted at the Occupational activity centre Tončka Hočevar in November 2009. This thesis deals with adequacy of theory by D. E. Orem regarding a moderately mentally handicapped person and its application at the Occupational activity centre Tončka Hočevar. The aim of application of Orem’s theory is to assure a quality health care to the recipients at the occupational activity centres that are included into the institutional care. The goals that we set are to present D. E. Orem’s theory regarding health care of a moderately mentally handicapped person and the needs for health care of a moderately mentally handicapped person, as well as find out whether this theory can be used when handling a moderately mentally handicapped person. We presented a moderately mentally handicapped person, included into the institutional care in an occupational activity centre, as well as the theory by D. E. Orem. Based on the results of a survey, conducted at the Varstveno delovni center Tončke Hočevar we found that the employees of this Centre would accept the concept of different handling in health care, but would need an appropriate prior training.
