Abstract:Da bi ugotavljali vplive različnega okolja na kalivost semen travniških rastlin skozi daljše časovno obdobje, smo v letih od 2004 do 2006 na Pohorskem dvoru izvedli eksaktni poskus s semeni travniških rastlin: kukavičja lučca (Lychnis flos-cuculi L.), navadni regrat (Taraxacum officinale G. H. Weber ex Wiggers), njivsko grabljišče (Knautia arvensis (L.) Coult., navadna kislica (Rumex acetosa L.), ozkolistni trpotec (Plantago lanceolata L.), travniški lisičji rep (Alopecurus pratensis L.), visoka pahovka (Arrhenatherum elatius L.), pasja trava (Dactylis glomerata L.) in ripeča zlatica (Ranunculus acris friesianus L.).

Title:EXPOSURE OF SEEDS OF CERTAIN GRASSLAND PLANTS TO DIFFERENT ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS AND ITS IMPACT ON GERMINATION
Abstract:From 2004 to 2006, we conducted trials involving seeds meadow plant species at Pohorski Dvor, near Maribor, NE Slovenia. The aim was to determine the influence of the environment on germination over an extended period of time. The trial was conducted on the following plant species: ragged robin (Lychnis flos-cuculi L.), dandelion (Taraxacum officinale G. H. Weber ex Wiggers), blue buttons (Knautia arvensis (L.) Coult.), garden sorrel (Rumex acetosa L.), ribwort plantain (Plantago lanceolata L.), meadow foxtail (Alopecurus pratensis L.), tall oat grass (Arhenatherum elatius L.), cocksfoot grass (Dactylis glomerata L.) and meadow buttercup (Ranunculus acris friesianus L.). Treatments (seed exposure to different environments) were: room temperature (20 °C), refrigerator at 8 °C, lawn soil at depth of 5 cm and lawn soil at depth of 10 cm. Seed germination was determined after 5, 8, 11 and 19 months of exposure to different environments. Different plant species exhibited different percentage of germination in different environments. Even in plants belonging to the family of grasses (Poaceae) we could not determine common reactions. The seeds of all meadow plants maintain a certain level of germination in all treatments, even after 19 months. The study suggests that all investigated plant species are characterised by at least some persistence of seed viability.
