Abstract:Stojimo na pragu velike družbene revolucije, tj. revolucije podaljšane življenjske dobe, ki bo spremenila vse vidike družbenega in osebnega dogajanja.

Title:Active ageing
Abstract:We are on the verge of a big social revolution, the revolution of prolonged life expectancy which is going to change all aspects of social and personal life. The purpose of my diploma thesis is to present active ageing that can in the widest sense be interpreted as continuous activities in social, economic, cultural and social fields. A positive image of active aging needs to be created and carefully prepared for. Physical activity, healthy food, mental fitness and positive human relations are elements that foster active ageing. The thesis also describes modern governmental as well as non-governmental organizations and programs for active ageing in Slovenia. NGOs in Slovenia are inter alia Society for Education for the Third Age with the programs of voluntary work and Slovene Philantrophy with its project Fruits of Society and governmental projects e-Inclusion/e-Accessibility, Lifelong Learning and Creation of didactic promotion tool “Happy and Creative in the Third Age”. The purpose of this tool is to animate the elderly for active ageing with a video package presented on TV screen. The empirical part presents a survey including an interview. The obtained data are processed with the text analyses method. The research was done in January 2010 with the individuals of the age between 65 and 85 in their home environment outside the city area. The intention was to detect what gives the elderly the feeling that they are aging actively and what are the activities contributing to active ageing that the elderly enjoy. It was concluded that even doing some work and capability of doing things independently already gives them a feeling of active ageing. Membership in different societies and taking care of their appearance gives the elderly a feeling of aging actively. The elderly included in the survey enjoy walks, exercising, socializing, manual skills and mental activities that considerably contribute to active ageing. From the results it can be concluded that the elderly around Trnava spend their time in the fall of their lives relatively actively doing different activities and going through meaningful active ageing.
