Podana je primerjava opreme, delovnih postopkov, procesnih parametrov, tehničnih karakteristik in postopkov validacije. Izvedena je študija varnosti in obratovanja z uporabo interne metodologije podjetja in metode HAZOP. Primerjana je protieksplozijska zaščita. Rezultati primerjalnih analiz kažejo veliko prednost nove opreme, ki omogoča računalniško vodenje procesa granulacije pri nadzorovanih tehnoloških pogojih in s tem doseganje stabilne kvalitete produkta. Proizvodni časi so krajši, čiščenje opreme enostavnejše, poraba vode manjša. Študije varnosti in obratovanja kažejo, da so fizične in psihične obremenitve delavcev na novi opremi bistveno manjše, prav tako so manjši požarno-eksplozijska ogroženost in vplivi na okolje. Polkvantitativna analiza tveganj kaže, da so tveganja obratovalnih problemov in varnosti zmanjšana na polovico.

Title:FLUID BED GRANULATION - OPERATION AND SAFETY ANALYSIS
Abstract:The company under investigation has accomplished the reconstruction of granulation process including the replacement of existing granulation equipment with a new model, and the adaptation of the workplace according to recent legislation. The reasons for retrofit were the following: obsoleteness of existing granulation equipment, difficulties in complying with the newest safety regulations and standards, manual process control, and frequent interruptions of production process. In diploma work, the assessment of replacement changes in the granulation process based on fluidized-bed technology was performed. The comparison of process equipment, tasks, parameters, technical characteristics and validation procedures is documented. Hazard and operability studies were carried out by means of the internal methodology of the company, and the HAZOP method. The anti-explosion protection was assessed before and after replacement. The results of comparative analyses indicate that the great advantage of new equipment over the old one is the automated computer control of granulation process, which enables to control key operating parameters, and to achieve stable quality of granulated products. This leads to shorter production time, simpler equipment cleaning procedure, and reduced water consumption. Hazard and operability studies revealed the reduced physical and psychical efforts of workers at workplace in the retrofitted granulation process. The risks of fire, explosion, and environmental pollution are reduced. Semi-quantitative analysis indicates that the risks of safety and operability problems are reduced to a half of the risks before reconstruction.
