Keywords:pismo, kratka proza, fikcija, nosilci pisemskega govora, ženski pripovedni jaz.

Title:THE LETTER IN THE SLOVENE SHORT STORY FROM 1899 TO 1930
Abstract:The important role of letters is seen during all historic periods, from antiquity until today, especially from the beginning of the first civilizations until the development of the telegraph and telephone in the late 19th century (Vidmar 2009: 31, Hodkinson 2007: 285). This type of literature is called half-literary or even non-literary type of literature and was not considered as a type of literature in traditional concept by the old literary science. A letter in all views of contemporary literary theory is defined as a written message between two people or groups of people in different places and it is addressed to the receiver by the help of introductory and concluding forms. In my graduation thesis, I present more precisely letter short prose and a letter which appears in short prose as an element of inter-genre discourse. The analysis comprises 23 short stories by 12 writers. I search for the presence and absence of fiction and reality in all of them. I am presenting the representative of letter language, giving the points of the accordance and deviation of letter prose and of the letter as an element of inter-genre discourse and I expose the female representative of letter language which has a privileged place in the letters of particular writers. Numerous writers chose a woman for the first-person narrator.
Keywords:letter, short prose, fiction, representatives of letter language, female narrator.
