Abstract:Diplomsko delo obravnava družine, v katerih so starši zasvojeni z alkoholom oziroma prepovedanimi substancami. V teoretičnem delu diplomskega dela smo opredelili zasvojenost in predstavili nekatere ugotovitve o vplivu zasvojenosti staršev na socializacijo, razvoj in vzgojo otroka znotraj odvisniškega družinskega sistema. Teoretični opredelitvi sledi empirični del, kjer smo s pomočjo anketnih vprašalnikov, namenjenih svetovalnim delavcem v vrtcih in osnovnih šolah, raziskali, kako pogosto se svetovalni delavci z obravnavo otrok v tovrstni stiski srečujejo. Poleg tega smo preverili, katere metode in oblike dela pri pomoči otrokom oziroma družini so v primeru zasvojenosti staršev najpogosteje uporabljene. Vse ugotovitve so prikazane v poglavju o preverjanju hipotez ter v sklepnem delu diplomskega dela.

Title:THE ROLE OF SCHOOL COUNSELORS IN DEALING WITH CHILDREN OF ADDICTS
Abstract:The dissertation deals with families where the parents are alcoholics or drug addicts. Specialists from the fields of sociology, pedagogy, psychology and related sciences agree that the family is particularly important for a child’s early development. The theoretical part of the dissertation defines addiction and presents some findings about the influence of the parents’ addiction on the socialization, development and upbringing/education of a child within the addicted family system. The study then shows the importance of educational institutions, in our case nursery schools and primary schools, in treating children from addicted families. Certain characteristics, which occur quite frequently in such children, are described in some detail, while the importance of the advisory service is emphasized; this can function as a significant factor in treating and helping children in this kind of difficult situation. The theoretical discussion is followed by the empirical part, where questionnaires intended for counsellors in nursery schools and primary schools were used to investigate how frequently counsellors encounter dealing with children in this kind of situation. We were also interested in establishing which factors within the school most frequently point to this kind of pressure for the child and in what way counsellors most often take action if the parents are addicted. We also checked which methods and forms of work in helping the child or the family are most often used in the case of addicted parents. All these findings are presented in the chapter on the testing of hypotheses and in the conclusion of the dissertation.
