Title:HOW TO MONITOR WEATHER AND CLIMATE CHANGES WITH PUPILS IN REGIONAL ENVIRONMENT
Abstract:This paper presents how students at primary level can measure physical quantities, which determine the weather condition, and on the basis of data, we monitor climate change in the regional environment. Climate change in the form of an extreme weather event represents an increasing threat to our planet. Climate change, in terms of altering the temperature, the amount and type of precipitation reflects diferently according to each region. That is why we've focused on monitoring climate change in the area of Maribor. We presented the measured results obtained from the Agency for the Environment. We graphically display the average January, July and annual temperatures and average rainfall in Maribor. Presented data are the basis for further long-term monitoring of climate change, where in addition to experimental work, we give the emphasis of data processing. In the experimental work, we show the manufacturing process of weather house and rain gauge. In terms of processing data, we've prepared tables and graphs where students use to make notes of the result of measurements. We've prepared a basis for presenting data that we divided into three parts. The first part is scheduled for monthly temperature, rainfall and weather condition. The second part is the monthly measurement and the third part presents the annual average recorded by each generation of students. Presented results will serve students for long-term monitoring of climate change in the regional environment.
