Predstavljene so prostovoljne organizacije, demenca, namestitev obolelega v dom za starejše občane, samopomoč, pomembnost komunikacije. Ocenili smo, da so mladi dovolj zainteresirani in pripravljeni pomagati dementnim pacientom in njihovim svojcem v domačem okolju. V diplomski nalogi predstavljamo prostovoljne organizacije: UNICEF, Zveza prijateljev mladine Maribor, Slovenska Filantropija, Zveza društev upokojencev Slovenije. Študente smo z delovanjem prostovoljnih organizacij in vključitvijo vanje seznanili.

Title:Voluntary help to the people with dementia and their relatives
Abstract:People are like angels with one wing – if we wish to fly, we must embrace each other. Regarding the fact that the number of older people is increasing, this is even more important. In order to feel a fellow human being and assist him whenever possible. Volontary work is a noble activity which feeds the soul of the one helping another and at the same time fulfills the one receiving the help. The diploma is based on volontary help for people suffering from dementia and their relatives. I have presented volontary organizations, dementia, the process of settling a patient in a nursery home, self-help and the importance of comunication. We have estimated that the young are willing and enthusiastic enough to help people suffering from dementia and their relatives in a domestic enviroment. Fifty second year students at the Faculty of Health Sciences University of Maribor participated in the research. The research has characteristics of explicit research, with which we came to the conclusion, that the promotion of the volontary work is sufficient, because the students are acquainted with the possibilities of the volontary work and also posses the experience needed for such work. Some of them work volontarily in their home town, those who are not yet doing it, strive towards it. With this diploma I wanted to present volontary organizations and provide information for the youth, needed to become a volonteer, in case they desire to help others. The diploma also presents exercises which older people can use to mantain certain functions or even improve them.
