Abstract:	Kmetijsko gozdarski zavod Ptuj ščiti interese kmetijstva, gozdarstva in ribištva. S svojim delovanjem največ pomaga na področju kmetijstva, ki je na tem območju najbolj razširjeno. Kmetijstvo se v Sloveniji, kot tudi širše, srečuje z vse večjimi težavami, ki se najbolj odražajo z opuščanjem kmetovanja, s pospešenim procesom urbanizacije ter z zaraščanjem kmetijskih površin. Tako se pomen zavoda za ohranitev in ponovno uveljavitev le-tega samo še povečuje. Ob slabšem položaju panoge pa je izredno pomembno tudi razvojno načrtovanje. To pa ni pomembno samo v zasebnem sektorju, kot vse pomembnejši dejavnik uspeha je tudi v javnih zavodih. Tako smo analizirali vpliv okolja na delovanje zavoda in iz tega izhajajoče možnosti in nevarnosti za njegovo poslovanje. Ugotovili smo, da ima zavod ključno vlogo v proučevanem lokalnem območju in si mora še najprej prizadevati za pomoč in razvoj kmetijstva, za dvig privlačnosti te panoge, večjo ozaveščenost potrošnikov in navsezadnje za povečan obseg svojih storitev. Predlagamo, da izkoristijo predvsem znanje in izkušnje zaposlenih za svetovanje pri novih oblikah kmetovanja. Prenesti je treba tudi znanje in pozitivne izkušnje iz tujine. S svojimi storitvami morajo izkoristiti vse možnosti, s pomočjo katerih bo kmetijstvo znova postalo bolj cenjena dejavnost.

Title:	THE FACTORS INFLUENCING THE PTUJ AGRICULTURE AND FORESTRY INSTITUTE BUSINESS OPERATIONS POTENTIALS
Abstract:	The Ptuj Agriculture and Forestry Institute protects the interests of agriculture, forestry and fisheries. In its activities it provides help mainly in the area of agriculture which is the most common activity in the Ptuj area. Agriculture in Slovenia as well as elsewhere is facing increasing problems, which are reflected in the cessation of farming, accelerated urbanisation process and in the overgrowing of cultivated land. Thus, the importance of the Ptuj Agriculture and Forestry Institute in preserving and reintroducing the cultivated land is increasing. Since the branch is in an unfavourable situation, spatial planning is also extremely important. Spatial planning is not important only in the private sector, but is becoming an increasingly important success factor also in public institutes. Therefore, we have analysed the influence of the environment on the performance of the institute and the possibilities and hazards of its business activities originating from this. We have established that the Institute holds a key role in the investigated local area and should continue to help in and develop agricultural activities, increase the attractiveness of this branch, inform the consumers more and also widen the scope of its services. Our suggestion is that the Institute should take advantage of the knowledge and the experiences of its employees in counselling as regards the new forms of farming. Knowledge and positive experiences should also be transferred from abroad. The Ptuj Agriculture and Forestry Institute should use its services and explore all the possibilities which could help agriculture to regain its status of a more appreciated activity.
