Abstract:	Turizem predstavlja pomembno razvojno in poslovno priložnost za Ptuj. Potrebno je razumeti novo vlogo strategije razvoja turizma, poznati svetovne trende, si zadati novo vizijo in pričeti z izvajanjem ukrepov za uresničevanje postavljenih ciljev. Postaja dejavnost, ki omogoča razvoj, zaposlovanje, zaslužek in socialno varnost, predvsem, če upoštevamo, da večina dejavnosti sodeluje v turistični ponudbi. S takim pogledom pa ima vsak kraj možnost za večji razvoj turizma. Ptuj, naše najstarejše slovensko mesto, je pomembno, prometno, oskrbovalno, gospodarsko, zaposlitveno, izobraževalno in kulturno središče Dravskega in Ptujskega polja, Haloz ter južnega dela Slovenskih goric. S turističnega vidika je Ptuj danes del evropskega in svetovnega tržišča in ga poznamo po mednarodnih projektih, prireditvah, kulturnozgodovinskih in športnih aktivnosti. Ptuj je zakladnica tisočletij, ki se ponaša z bogato dediščino. Največja kulturna znamenitost je Ptujski grad, omeniti pa velja še številne kulturne spomenike, samostane in galerije. Terme Ptuj so ene najmlajših term, kjer nudijo visoko kvalitetne turistične storitve z možnostjo kopanja v zdravilni mineralni vodi, igranje golfa in uživanje v pestri kulinarični ponudbi. Tudi reka Drava je na ptujskem območju neizčrpen vir priložnosti za turistične izzive. Omeniti velja ptujsko jezero, ki nam omogoča veliko športnih in rekreacijskih dejavnosti kot so: jadranje, ribolov… Tako kot je na nacionalni ravni razvoj regionalni razvoj pomembna gospodarska dejavnost prihodnosti, tudi na lokalni ravni obstaja želja vzpostaviti dolgoročen uspešen razvoj na področju turizma. Ker živim v najstarejšem slovenskem mestu, na Ptuju, vidim možnost, kako privabiti več turistov ter jim predstaviti to majhno, a lepo mesto, z veliko turističnimi znamenitostmi. Namen diplomske naloge bo zato raziskati in razložiti organizacijo razvoja Ptujske regije in vlogo managementa. Prav tako bo namen povezati in opredeliti relacijo organizacija in management, torej obliko in način izvajanja.

Title:	ORGANIZATION AND PROMOTION OF TURISM IN THE PTUJ
Abstract:	Tourism is important for generating business opportunities in the town of Ptuj and ensuring its development. Therefore, Ptuj must recognize the new role of its tourism development strategy and become familiar with global trends in the field of tourism; the town must thus prepare a new vision of tourism and take the steps necessary to achieve the objectives it had set regarding this matter. Considering the benefits of tourism e.g. ensuring development and guaranteeing jobs, generating income and providing social security, all due to the fact how many local activities are involved in this, every community should seize the opportunity to promote the growth of tourism. The oldest Slovenian town Ptuj, being the centre of the region encompassing the plains Dravsko and Ptujsko polje, Haloze hills and the southernmost part of Slovenske gorice hills is important in terms of traffic, supply, economy, employment, education as well as culture. In terms of tourism, Ptuj has become part of the European and world market and is renowned for its international projects, events, its cultural-historical heritage and sports. Ptuj which is promoted under the tagline "Treasure House of the Millenium", has a rich historical and cultural background. The most prominent cultural site is Ptuj Castle, however there are many other cultural monuments such as monasteries and galleries that are worth visiting. Ptuj Thermal Spa is one of the youngest spas in the country offering premium tourist services including bathing in the spa's healing mineral water, golf opportunities and exquisite culinary treats. An endless source for tourist activities in the Ptuj region is the river Drava. Closely connected is lake Ptuj that is the ideal setting for numerous water sports and recreational activities including sailing and fishing. On a national level, regional development is an important future economic activity, whereas the objective on a local level is to establish successful long-term development in the field of tourism. Being a Ptuj resident, I have identified the chance, how to attract more tourists and introduce them to this small but delightful town full of fascinating sites. The objective of this diploma paper is therefore to explore and illustrate the organization of the development of Ptuj region and the role of management in this process. A secondary objective is to define and establish a link between the concepts of organisation and management or in other words between the form and manner of execution.
