Title:OPTIMIZATION OF JOB SEQUENCING IN MAKE-TO-ORDER PRODUCTION
Abstract:One of the characteristics of make-to-order production is that a company receives the orders randomly, so there is no in advance fixed sequence. Customers always claim for shorter delivery times. Work orders must be sequenced optimally to suit customers’ requirements (delivery times) and company’s economy, which results in properly put capacities to profitable use. There are many rules about sequencing to be found in literature, although, all of them do not produce equally good results. Therefore it is very important to choose a rule that corresponds to the strategy of the company. In this diploma work 20 of scheduling methods have been studied. On the basis of required practical example we found out which of the methods has proved itself as most suitable.
