Title:THE ROLE OF REINSURANCE IN THE SLOVENE AND EUROPEAN MARKET
Abstract:The thesis is designed to highlight certain features of the reinsurance and the complications that arise in the Slovenian and European markets. Condition of the Slovenian insurance companies is supposedly good, despite the scratch here and there, caused by the financial crisis. In the future, the world can expect premium growth in both traditional reinsurances, as well as alternative risk transfers. The reason for the premium growth in traditional reinsurance should be particularly the growth of insurance prices, demand however is expected to remain roughly at the same level. In the global reinsurance industry increase of the damage value is well reflected, especially those incurred as a result of natural disasters, which greatly affects the results obtained by the reinsurance company. The rapid increase in the value of claims incurred from natural disasters can be explained by a high density of population and the increasing value of the risk in the exposed areas. We may also add further changes in the natural environment and the consequent effects on local climate. Nevertheless, it is necessary to devote attention to the rapid growth of dangerous events caused by human. Trends in the global insurance and traditional forms of reinsurances shortcomings provide nearly ideal conditions for the further development of alternative risk transfer (ART).
