Title:ANALYSIS OF THE IMPACT SPEED OF VEHICLES ON ROAD SAFETY
Abstract:Abstract With the development of more powerful vehicles of better quality that can reach high speed, also consequences of traffic accidents, which often have fatal consequences with following death and severe bodily injuries, have increased. In the statistics of traffic accidents the most frequent reasons for traffic accidents is unadapted speed according to police reports. But it would be very good to differentiate what speed is the main reason for a traffic accident: unadapted speed is the speed that is not adapted to street and weather conditions in a given moment or excessive respectively exceeded speed is the speed, which is higher than the limited speed, required by the traffic sign. In the thesis we analysed the data at three control spots in the past three years and gave the results how many vehicles exceeded the restricted speed at each single control spot and how many traffic accidents had happened on the single control spots. The data from the control spots represent the actual state how we drive and are independent from the police. In respect to the analysed data we ascertained that many vehicles had exceeded restricted speed, but that no traffic accidents had happened. In the future it is necessary to find out where the reason for the appearance of accidents lies.
