Title:MOTIVATION FOR GUIDER INGENEER FOR RADIOLOGY
Abstract:This Master’s thesis, titled Motivation for continuing professional education of an engineer of radiology, has been written based on personal experience in this profession. This thesis addresses the current situation in the field of motivation for professional training of author’s colleagues with Bachelor’s degree of Engineering in radiology. The Master’s thesis consists of two parts, theoretical and practical part. In the theoretical part we consulted the existing scholarly literature to present in theoretical terms the most important and the most frequent terminology in the field of motivation and continuing professional education. We defined motivation and its determining factors as well as presented main motivation theories and significant determinants of one’s professional activity. Further on we focused on continuing professional education and professional training. The first topic of our interest was the organizational culture and its influence on educational needs in the organization as well as the role of professional training in the organization. The aim of this thesis determine if there is a sufficient level of motivation for professional training among colleagues with Bachelor’s degree of Engineering in radiology and if their employing organization towards encourages or discourages them in attending continuing professional training programs. We have performed a research on motivation for continuing education and professional training of engineers of radiology. We gathered information based on an electronic survey sent to colleagues. The findings of our research were following: engineers in radiology are sufficiently motivated for continuing professional education; they all educate and train themselves professionally with a goal to acquire higher levels of education, recognition at work as well as social reputation. However, based on the results of the survey, their most important motive for professional training and continuing education is the acquisition of additional knowledge for their professional work. Our hypothesis in the start assumed difficulties in fund-raising for continuing education and professional training, insufficient support by employing organizations and lack of personal time. The conclusion of the thesis gathers theoretical reflection, findings and results as well as recommendations for system improvement.
