Title:THE HISTORY OF OLGA MEGLIČ PRIMARY SCHOOL
Abstract:In my diploma there is a short presentation of the history of Ptuj and the development of the educational system in Slovenia. I put the main emphasis of my diploma on the history of the primary school Olga Meglič and its development through different periods. The most important turning point was May 1979 when the assembly of the Ptuj Commune accepted the provision about establishing a primary school in Ptuj because the situation at that time was not satisfactory. The new established primary school got its premises at 31 Presernova street where there were until that time the premises of the secondary school Dušan Kveder Ptuj. There was needed much effort and will power that the new acquired building came to life again like it should be for a school and was ready to welcome their pupils in its premises. A very important day that impressed on everyone's memory was November 28th 1979 when the school got its name - primary school Olga Meglič and then began to develop its reputation. Through different periods that are divided in my diploma into four parts the primary school itself became a very important link in the commune and competed according to their success with other primary schools around. Often the primary school Olga Meglič was the first school that invented changes in the school system and was often proclaimed to be an experimental school. It is a pity that unsuitable work conditions impeded the invention of new and positive changes and therefore the second turning point for the primary school Olga Meglič was the term 2005/2006 where at last could enter all skilled workers, pupils and others connected to that school and finally that kind of conditions were given they and every primary school and people connected with it deserve.
