Abstract:	V Sloveniji je obolelost za rakom na debelem črevesju v porastu. Zdravljenje te bolezni je operativno. Kot posledica določenega števila posegov je lahko pri bolniku narejena umetna izpeljava črevesa na trebušno steno, ki jo imenujemo stoma. Kljub napredovanju stroke in uporabi vedno boljših pripomočkov za oskrbo stome, spremljajo stomiste po prihodu domov mnoge težave. Namen diplomskega dela je bil predstaviti delo medicinske sestre - enterostomalne terapevtke v stomistovem domačem okolju, črevesne stome in njihove zaplete ter z raziskavo ugotoviti sposobnost samooskrbe stomistov, njihove potrebe po prisotnosti medicinske sestre - enterostomalne terapevtke, ko so že samostojni, in na katerem področju je še potreba po nadgraditvi dela medicinske sestre - enterostomalne terapevtke. Metodologija raziskovanja. Uporabili smo kvantitativno metodologijo raziskovanja, kot instrument pa anketni vprašalnik. V raziskavi, ki je potekala v januarju in februarju 2010, je sodelovalo 156 stomistov iz celotne države. Rezultati. Rezultati, ki smo jih pridobili z raziskavo, so pokazali, da je delo medicinske sestre - enterostomalne terapevtke v stomistovem domačem okolju zadovoljivo in da je pripomoglo h kakovostni samooskrbi stomista. Ugotovili smo tudi, da samostojni in rehabilitirani stomisti čutijo potrebo po občasni prisotnosti medicinske sestre - enterostomalne terapevtke. V 67 odstotkih anketiranci ocenjujejo, da je njihovo življenje s stomo kakovostno, kar smo ocenili za dobro. Sklep. Strokovno in kakovostno opravljeno delo medicinske sestre - enterostomalne terapevtke vpliva na ugoden potek rehabilitacije stomista, njegovo sposobnost samooskrbe in posledično tudi na kakovost stomistovega življenja.

Title:	OSTOMY PATIENT HOME CARE BY THE ENTEROSTOMAL SPECIALIST NURSE
Abstract:	In Slovenia, the prevalence of colon cancer is on the rise. Treatment of this disease includes surgery and creation of an artificial link of the intestine to the abdominal wall, called a stoma. Despite the advancement of the profession and improvements in stoma care accessories stoma patients face many problems upon arriving home. This thesis presents the work of an enterostomal therapist in patient’s home environment, intestinal stomas and their complications, a survey to determine stoma patients’ ability for self care, their need for the presence of an enterostomal therapist when they are already independent and finally, explore the enterostomal therapists’ areas of work that show the need for improvement. The methodology of the survey. Quantitative methodology was used for this study, with the questionnaire as the study’s instrument. The survey which we used for this study involved 156 stoma patients from the entire country and was conducted in January and February 2010. Results. Information gained from the survey showed that the enterostomal therapists’ work is satisfactory and that it contributes to the quality of stoma patient’s self care. Advances in the medical educational field dealing with the stoma patient care will have to be made. The results of the research show that the independent and rehabilitated stoma patients feel the need for the presence of an enterostomal therapist. The 67 percents believe that their life quality with the stoma is good, which is assessed as a good result. Conclusion. The research showed that professional and quality work done by a enterostomal therapist has a favorable impact on patient rehabilitation, his ability for self care and hence the quality of patient's life.
