Zanimalo me je, kako učbeniki s svojimi vsebinami spodbujajo otrokov moralni razvoj. V teoretičnem delu diplome sem razložila pomen moralnih vrednot in kasneje zbrala in primerjala nekaj teorij moralnega razvoja.

Title:INCLUSION OF MORAL VALUES IN ENGLISH TEXT BOOKS AT PRIMARY SCHOOL LEVEL
Abstract:This diploma work was inspired by the theory that moral values should play an important role in our educational system. Moral values should and can be included in every school subject. This is also prescribed by national curriculum. The task is easier for language teachers because of the fact that they are allowed to teach a language through any topics they please. English teachers can stimulate their learners’ moral development; not only with the chosen topics but also with their teaching methods and most importantly, with their personalities. But since most of the teachers use course books as their main guide throughout the lessons I have laid the stress on the question of how the topics in course books foster the presentation moral values. The theoretical part of my paper explains what moral values are. Further on, several theories of children’s moral development have been gathered and compared. To give my diploma an addition value I also concentrated on the future of elementary school and the importance of complex learning. The findings are set in the conclusion. In the empirical part, I have analysed the two of the most commonly used course books for primary school learners: Messages and Project. The results in tables and graphs are presented in chapter 5.3. Lastly, the opinions of ten teachers have been collected and my findings have been set in the conclusion.
