Stari ljudje oblikujejo odnos do institucije že pred vstopom v dom, in sicer na podlagi družbeno predpisane vloge institucije in lastnih izkušenj z institucionalno obliko bivanja.

Title:RELATIONSHIP QUALITY OF A NURSE WITH A PATIENT IN NURSING HOME CARE
Abstract:The expectations that elderly people have on living in a nursing home depend on the subjective world of an individual on whom the relationship of the society has an influence as well. Elderly people form a relationship to the institution already before they enter the nursing home, namely on grounds of the role that the society has given the institution and on grounds of their own experience with the institutional form of living. A point, where expectations of the residents and the nurse meet, is defined as a space where the relationship to one another is being formed. Living in an institution requires compromises, as the individual is only a little part of this giant organization. Working with elderly people is related to a constant communication which is part of professional work of a nurse and therapeutic means of help provided to elderly people. Communication is primarily intended to satisfy their needs. It helps us consider the uniqueness of elderly people, their wishes and their needs. With the research, we wanted to identify the quality of mutual relationships between the nurse and the elderly man in a nursing home care. The research involved 50 elderly people. The data were collected by means of a questionnaire which provided us with answers to our research questions. The results have shown that the relationship of the nurses to elderly people is warm and that nurses instill elderly people in nursing homes a sense of understanding, trust and warmth. Apart from that, the elderly people have a possibility to decide and to choose and the nurses are willing to listen whenever the residents have a need.
