Abstract:

Title:
PUBLIC POLITICAL PERSONALITY IN JOURNALISM
Abstract:
The delimitation between the public interest and the right to privacy in the context of reporting of various media is increasingly brought up as an issue of debate. The Journalists’ Code of Conduct serves as a means to resolve such dilemmas. In the case of violation of basic principles of the Journalists’ Code of Conduct, the Journalists’ Ethics Commission is brought in. This commission decides on violations by and complaints against journalists. However, based on comparisons of Slovenian and British online media, we found that interference with the privacy law of political figures is protected and not justifiable until there are substantiated and verifiable sources.
