Orodja vitkosti so se pričela uporabljati že v Toyota Production System, in sicer: Kaizen, TPM, JIT, SMED, 5S in pregledna tovarna, glajenje proizvodnje in celična proizvodnja.

Title:MODEL OF THE MATERIAL FLOW IN THE PRODUCTION
Abstract:The main purpose of this Master`s Thesis was to develop a model of methodology to implement lean manufacturing tools and techniques, with seeks to analyse the internal materials and information flow in an assembly department, with focus on glasses production high quality, specify in assembly process. Lean manufacturing is one of these initiatives that focus on cost reduction by eliminating non-value added activities, whilst ensuring quality. The basic ideas behind the lean manufacturing system, which have been practiced for many years in Japan, are waste elimination, cost reduction and employee empowerment. These tools and techniques have been used in the discrete industry, starting with Toyota Production System. Tools including continuous improvement (Kaizen), Total Productive Maintenance, Just in time, Single-Minute Exchange of Dies, 5S and visual system, production smoothing and cellular manufacturing. To prepare a model of material flow for assembly process of glasses, I started with the procedure of implementing lean tools at a process facility. As basic I used value stream mapping to map current state for assembly department. This helped me to identify source of waste and then identify lean tools. Value stream mapping was used as the main tool to identify the opportunities for various lean techniques. The future state map was developed as accepted model, capable of solving the problems of accumulated intermediate stocks of parts, time losses and quality decreasing of finishing goods. An improvement of this thesis is proposed adopting the cellular manufacturing system, while verifying the advances by means of lean production with focus on material flow model. As supporting tool by implementation assembling cells, I also described a simulation model that was developed to contrast the details with pilot assembling cell, in order to illustrate potential benefits such as reduced production lead-time, higher productivity and lower work-in-process inventory. With lean technics I have managed to add some important detail to a systems view of the assembly process by encouraging managerial interest in the way material and information flows through the production system of glasses.
