Abstract:	V diplomskem delu smo predstavili pomen in delovanje Slovenskega društva Hospic, kakovost dela prostovoljcev v Štajerski in Pomurski regiji, ter njihov pogled na smrt. Društvo počasi prodira in pridobiva na razpoznavnosti ter zaupanju ljudi v Sloveniji, predvsem s svojo vztrajnostjo in samopromocijo. Prepoznavnost je še vedno relativno majhna, zato je osveščanje ljudi o smrti posameznika bistvenega pomena. Predstavili smo pomen prostovoljstva za člane društva. Glavni razlog pridružitve društvu vsakega prostovoljca je pomoč ljudem in izpopolnitev osebne rasti. Kakovost dela se odraža v zadovoljstvu prostovoljcev. Izpostavili smo tudi starost samih prostovoljcev, v večji meri gre za starejšo generacijo. Raziskavo smo izvedli s pomočjo anketnega vprašalnika med enainštiridesetimi prostovoljci Štajerske in Pomurske regije v letu 2010. Naše raziskave so pokazale, da za pomoč društva prosi še vedno premalo ljudi, kar je posledica strahu samega procesa umiranja in trpljenja. Največ je svojcev, ki poprosijo za pomoč in jo potem tudi s strani društva dobijo. Prostovoljci spremljajo smrt tako posredno kot neposredno, kar pripomore k njihovemu lažjemu sprejemanju smrti. Želijo si čim večje število prostovoljcev vseh generacij. Smrt med prostovoljci ne predstavlja bojazni, zato si prizadevajo za detabuizacijo smrti tudi med preostalo populacijo.

Title:	ROLE AND ACTIVITY OF THE SLOVENIAN HOSPICE ASSOCIATION
Abstract:	The following diploma work represents the meaning and activity of the Slovenian Hospic Association, the quality of the work of volunteers in the Styrian and Pomurska region, and their view of death. The association is slowly gaining its visibility and people's trust in Slovenia, mostly by its persistency and self-promotion. The visibility is still relatively small and that is why people's awareness about the death of each individual is important. Helping people and personal growth is the main reason a volunteer decides to join the association. The volunteers' content represents the quality of their work. The age of the volunteers was also emphasized, the majority is a part of the older generation. The survey was conducted among forty-one volunteers of the Styrian and Pomurska region in 2010. The survey showed that the number of people asking for help is still too small, which is a consequence of fear of dying and suffering. People who ask for help are mostly relatives, and that help is then offered to them by the association. The volunteers are exposed to death indirectly and directly, and that helps them to accept death with more ease. They wish to have more volunteers of different generations. Death does not represent fear among the volunteers and that is why they aim their goal towards detabooization of death among the rest of the population.
