Sklep.

Title:BURDENS AND THE BURNOUT PROCESS OF THE INTENSIVE THERAPY NURSE
Abstract:In this Master’s thesis we focused on work stress which is an unavoidable part of our professional lives in the Intensive Therapy Unit and is the consequence of dealing with issues that we encounter in our work environment. The members of the health care team are daily faced with different stressful situations that can gradually lead to burnout and can threaten their own psycho ─ physical balance and health. Research methodology. This research was based on quantitative methodology. The data was gathered with the use of a closed questionnaire. The research sample included 90 registered nurses and health care technicians who work in the Intensive Therapy Unit. We illustrated the gathered data with the help of computer programs Microsoft Excel and SPSS. We statistically analyzed the data using the Chi Square test. Results. The data analysis showed that work in the Intensive Therapy Unit is stressful. Employees of the unit are mostly burdened by the poor interpersonal relationships with co ─ workers and superiors. Jurisdictions and responsibilities are not clearly defined and work can affect employees’ families and partner relations. Conclusion. The knowledge that is necessary for the recognition, control, and reduction of negative influences of stress, as well as the prevention of burnout among nurses, can contribute to the increase of resilience in stressful situations. In this way we can be less burdened, more content and more committed to our job.
