Title:GAIT CHARACTERISTICS OF PRESCHOOL CHILDREN
Abstract:The gait as the way of locomotion is a complex activity which is learned by a person after a lasting process of attempts and failures. It is composed of movements that are stable only, if a person moves. The first individual steps are an important milestone in the life of every human being, thus we need to pay great attention to the development of walk in the period when a child makes his first few steps. The watchfully monitoring of walk development throughout the child’s growth process is of extraordinary meaning. The goal of the thesis was to find out whether there are differences in characteristics of pre-school children gait. This was determined by video recordings of walking of 40 children, aged from 3 to 6 years. Results of our analysis showed that gait of differently aged children varies considerably.
Keywords:ways of walking, gait cycle, pre-school children, ankle, knee and hip angle, step sequence, hand pose, support of legs
