V doktorski disertaciji smo želeli na primeru specifične e-storitve empirično preizkusiti model, ki ga definira najsodobnejša teorija sprejetosti informacijskih tehnologij – združena teorija sprejetosti in uporabe tehnologij (Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology – UTAUT). Teoretični model smo statistično analizirali in preizkusili s pomočjo metode strukturnih modelov – SEM (Structural Equation Modeling).

Title:E-service domain based model for estimating acceptance and use of e-services
Abstract:The main subject of this dissertation is acceptance and use of e-services. Therefore, the main objective was to identify the most important factors, which have significant influence on users’ acceptance and use of e-services. For a specific e-service, we wanted to empirically validate an acceptance model, proposed by a state-of-the-art information technology acceptance theory – unified theory of acceptance and use of technology (UTAUT). For a specific e-service, we also wanted to identify contextual factors, which could be used to extend the basic UTAUT theoretical model. We focused mainly on the user’s perceptions while using e-services that have an impact on his or her decision to accept or reject a specific e-service. Additionally, we wanted to investigate, if there are significant differences in the impact size of individual factors regarding e-service domain type. To find answers to stated research questions and hypotheses, we performed several empirical research studies. A systematic literature review was performed to identify factors which have a significant impact on users' acceptance and use of e-services. A meta-analysis was conducted for empirical comparison and analysis of individual factors’ impact for different e-service domains. For a specific e-service domain we performed a quantitative-qualitative study and identified important constructs that may have significant impact on user’s decision on when and how he or she will use a specific e-service. Based on the results from the literature review and qualitative analysis, we proposed a theoretical model, which was based on the UTAUT theoretical model. Quantitative research in the form of an online questionnaire based survey was performed to test the stated hypotheses. The answers were primarily analyzed using structural equation modeling (SEM) which demonstrated the validity of concepts and the level of causal relationships between concepts. The contribution of the latter study is an extended UTAUT model with supplementary factors that have impact on users’ perceptions in using an e-learning system. One of the main findings of this dissertation is also the fact that the size of individual factor’s impact on user’s perceptions while using a specific e-service depends on e-service domain type. Results from the performed studies raised several opportunities for further research. The results from the studies also provide the basis for new and innovative solutions that can contribute to a better understanding of reasons why users accept or reject a specific information technology or service.
