Title:MOTIV SREČE IN SMRTI V PRIPOVEDNI PROZI CIRILA KOSMAČA

Abstract:Ciril Kosmač je v tematski in idejni svet socialnega realizma vnesel jasne elemente modernizma, od razvejane kompozicije do elementov fantastike. Večina njegovih del je avtobiografskega značaja, saj avtor v njih nastopa kot delujoča oseba. V njegovi prozi so prisotne prvine humorja, ki je tesno povezan z arhaičnimi odnosi med ljudmi na vasi. Še posebej izstopajo značilni vaški liki, ki s svojo tragičnostjo in hkrati smešnostjo spremljajo Kosmačev razumevajoči humor v posebne vrste ljudsko grotesko, kar se kaže v izboru motivov in karakterizaciji oseb. V središču so ljudje, ki so v socialnem, miselnem in predvsem čustvenem pogledu na dnu človeške lestvice. So odrinjenci, posebneži, ki so nosilci posebne človečnosti, v kateri je izpovedana ljubezen, lepota, dobrota in etična moč. Hrepenijo po vsem, kar nasprotuje hladnemu razumu – ljubezni ter predvsem po sreči in svobodi. Kosmač izpoveduje tragične usode, socialno bedo, življenjsko izgubljenost in pogosto tudi svojo pisateljsko ustvarjalno stisko, z mukami in radostnimi trenutki. Povezuje različne zgodbe, različna življenja in prepleta usodne dogodke. Največkrat so to odločilni trenutki v življenju ljudi, pogosto pa je to ravno smrt, ki je v njegovih delih prevladujoč motiv, osvetljen z več vidikov – nastopa lahko kot groza, odpoved ali kot cilj, etično dejanje. V diplomskem delu z naslovom Motiv sreče in smrti v pripovedni prozi Cirila Kosmača podrobneje predstavljam omenjena motiva, ki se vseskozi pojavljata v več inačicah – motiv sreče in smrti. Pripovedni potek zgodb prikazuje rast pripovedovalčevega literarnega ustvarjanja in čustvenega sveta, njegovega pojmovanja usode in lepote – zgodbe spleta v osebna in temeljna življenjska spoznanja. Za poante nekaterih novel je značilno, da so optimistične in da z zaupanjem v prihodnost (vero v pravičnost in dobroto) prekrivajo človeško nemoč.

Title:THE MOTIF OF HAPPINESS AND DEATH IN CIRIL KOSMAČ'S NARRATIVE PROSE
Abstract:Ciril Kosmač had brought clear elements of modernism into thematic and ideational world of Social Realism; such as composition ramification and elements of fiction. Most of his works are of autobiographical nature, as the author appears in them as an acting character. There are elements of humor in his prose, closely linked to archaic relations among people in the village. Typical village characters especially stand out; with their tragedy and concurrent comicality they accompany Kosmač's understanding humor into a special kind of folk grotesque, which is indicated by the choice of motifs and characterization. The centre are the people, which are from social, mental and above all emotional aspect at the bottom of the social scale. They are outcasts, characters, carrying a special humanity, in which love, beauty, kindness and ethic strength are declared. They long for everything opposing to cold rationalism; for love and especially happiness and freedom. Kosmač tells of tragic fates, social misery, feeling of being lost in life and often of his own creative distress in writing with both anguish and joyful moments. He connects different stories, different lives and intertwines fatal events. These are mostly crucial moments in people's lives, often death, which is the prevalent motif in his works, elucidated from different viewpoints; death can appear as dread, renouncement or as a goal, an ethical action. In my diploma paper titled The Motif of Happiness and Death in Kosmač's Narrative Prose I am presenting in detail the mentioned motifs, which appear throughout the works in several variants – the motif of happiness and death. The narrative flow of the stories shows the growth of narrator’s literary creation and emotional world, his comprehension of fate and beauty; he twines the stories into personal and basic life perceptions. It is typical of the points of his short stories to be optimistic and to cover up the human helplessness with trust in future (faith in justness and kindness).
