Abstract:	Starostniki so najbolj ogrožena skupina ljudi, pri katerih je potrebno tudi skrbeti na njihovo varnost pred morebitnimi padci. Zagotavljanje varnosti stanovalcev v domu starejših ima velik pomen tako za člane negovalnega tima kakor za stanovalce. S ciljano pozornostjo preprečujemo morebitne poškodbe stanovalcev, ki imajo pri starostnikih lahko hude posledice v zdravstvenem stanju. Z zagotavljanjem varnosti se jim mora omogočiti varno bivanje v domu. V empiričnem delu smo naredili retrospektivno analizo podatkov iz dokumenta Poročilo o incidentih stanovalcev v domu starejših. Analiza je bila izvedena za obdobje enega leta, od junija 2009 do junija 2010. V raziskavi smo analizirali 27 padcev. Namen raziskave je bil ugotoviti, kako v domu starejših skrbijo za varnost pred padci ter analizirati vzroke in posledice padcev pri stanovalcih. V raziskavi smo ugotovili, da se največ padcev pripeti prav tam, kjer so stanovalci največ svojega časa, v svojih sobah. Vzroki, ki privedejo do padca, so: starost, zdravila, bivalni prostor stanovalca, premalo negovalnega kadra na oddelkih, kjer so stanovalci razmeroma pomični in samostojni. Člani negovalnega tima preventivno delujejo in tako zmanjšujejo pogostost padcev skozi kontinuirano 24-urno oskrbo in zdravstveno nego kakor zdravstveno vzgojo. Padci so v domu povzročili stanovalcem hude posledice v dveh primerih zloma kolka, kjer je bila dolgotrajna hospitalizacija in rehabilitacija. Najpogostejše poškodbe v domu so bile odrgnine, hematomi ali manjše presekanine. Zaradi posameznih manjših poškodb so se stanovalci v krajšem času pozdravili in se vrnili na raven samostojnosti, ki so jo imeli pred poškodbo. Skrb za varnost stanovalcev v domskem varstvu je poglavitna vloga negovalnega osebja skozi neprekinjeno zdravstveno vzgojo stanovalcev in tudi samega vodstva institucije z uvedbo različnih preventivnih sprememb, kot so nabava klicnih naprav za roke, ocenjevalna lestvica ogroženosti stanovalca za padec in ustrezna kadrovska zasedenost.

Title:	PROTECTION AGAINST FALLS OF RESIDENTS IN RESIDENTIAL CARE
Abstract:	Old people are the most endangered group of people and we have to take special care for their security and prevent them from possible falls. Provision of security at an old people's home is of great importance for the carers and the residents. If we pay special attention to the residents, we can prevent them from possible injuries, which can have serious consequences in their health condition. They have to be provided with a secure residence at the old people's home. In the empirical part we have made a retrospective analysis of the data from a document A report of the residents' incidents at the old people's home. The analysis was made for a period of one year – from June 2009 to June 2010. We have analysed 27 falls. The aim of the analysis was to establish how the residents had been taken care of from the falls and to analyse the reasons for and the consequences of the residents' falls. We have found out that the most falls happened at the residents' rooms, the place, where they spent most of their time. The reasons for the falls were the resindents' old age, medicine, their living space, an insufficient number of employees in departments where the residents were relatively mobile and independent. The employees acted preventively to reduce the number of falls during the whole 24-hour service. The falls caused serious consequences – broken hips in two cases, which required a long-term hospitalisation and rehabilitation. The most common injuries were the scratches, hematomas or smaller cuts. The residents recovered quickly from the smaller injuries and they returned to the level of independence they had before the injury. The care for the residents' security is the main task of the employees, and so the employer by providing alarm devices for arms, the assessment scale of fall hazards and an appropriate number of employees.
